Who is this retreat for?
Players aged 15–24 who want detailed teaching, meaningful competition and the opportunity to develop beyond their basketball skills.
Last year, our international group included 40% girls and 60% boys, with players from 14 countries.
Come with curiosity, motivation and a willingness to engage. We give players freedom and responsibility, and everyone contributes through their effort, respect and support for others.
How will we train?
Two focused court sessions a day, with time to go into the details that often get missed in larger camps.
You’ll work with coaches experienced in developing professional players, bringing that same attention to detail to your learning: how you move, what you see, the timing of your decisions and how you respond to a defender.
We use video directly on the court. Seeing an action can make it easier to understand than hearing an explanation alone. We’ll watch short clips together, pause key moments and break down the details then immediately explore them with a ball in your hands.
SEE IT. PRACTICE IT. PLAY IT.
For example, in a pick-and-roll session, we might watch how a player sets up their defender, changes pace and reads the coverage. You’ll then explore those details with a partner before applying them in live 2-on-2 or 3-on-3 situations.
Much of our training happens through small-sided games: 1-on-1, 2-on-2 and 3-on-3. Fewer players means more involvement, more decisions and more opportunities to use what you’re learning against real defence.
Throughout each session, coaches observe, ask questions and give individual feedback. You’ll have room to experiment and discover solutions, with clear guidance on the details that can improve your game.
The goal is to leave understanding what works, why it works and how to use it next season.
How big are the training groups?
We aim for around six players per basket, giving coaches time to see the details and provide meaningful feedback.
Much of the work happens with one partner or in small groups of two or three players at a similar level. Groups are organised around ability and development needs, rather than age alone.
We call this your genius zone: enough challenge to stretch you, with space to explore, make mistakes and grow.
What will we work on mentally?
The mental side of the game is where you can make a real difference.
You can have the skills, but struggle to use them when you’re overthinking, afraid of making mistakes or losing confidence. How you respond in those moments shapes your performance and your experience of playing.
That’s why we give mental development dedicated time every day. Like your basketball skills, it deserves attention and practice.
Through workshops, classroom sessions, meditation and reflection, you’ll develop tools for:
- Confidence and self-talk: supporting yourself through difficult moments.
- Focus and presence: bringing your attention back to the next play.
- Visualization: mentally rehearsing how you want to perform and respond.
- Handling pressure: working with mistakes, expectations and setbacks.
- Leadership and communication: expressing yourself clearly and helping others succeed.
Our ambition is transformation. We want you to leave with greater mental strength, more inner peace and tools you can use in basketball and everyday life.
Every player receives a personal notebook to capture insights and take those lessons home.
How will we develop physically?
Athletic development is integrated throughout the week, with work on movement quality, barefoot training principles, injury prevention and habits that support performance and recovery.
We balance focused training with time to rest. The goal is to give you all the tools you need to keep yourself healthy and improve your performance also during the season on your own.
Who will coach us?
Three head coaches bring together basketball, mental and athletic performance.
Joerik Michiels
Basketball Performance & Retreat Leader
Founder of Elite Athletes, Joerik brings more than 16 years of experience developing players and coaches across over 40 countries, including work with professional players and projects with the NBA, FIBA, Nike and Jordan.

Jason Payne

He leads the athletic side of the retreat, helping players understand how their bodies move and develop habits that support performance, movement quality and recovery.

How did previous players describe the experience?
“Life-changing.”
“This week changed how I think about myself and how I speak to myself. I came to improve my basketball, but I left with tools for every part of my life.”
“The energy was different.”
“Everyone was locked in and giving their best. You could feel that everyone wanted to be there. That energy made you want to push yourself, and we supported each other along the way. It’s the best environment I’ve been around.”
“This week was so different than any other camp I ever did.”
“The coaches treated us as adults. They spoke with us, listened to our ideas and gave us freedom. It felt like we were working together, and that respect made the whole experience much different than any camp I’ve been too.”
