Steve Maxwell at EA: training for longevity

by Olivier Goetgeluck
When Jozef Frucek visited our facility in september for a Fighting Monkey workshop, he talked a little about "training experts." In short he said, that our real experts in movement are, NOT fit 20 year olds, but: Kids between 1 and 3,5 years old, because they show you what real basic movements are that we all should be able to do Older people who still move well, as they've probably done some...

Death as a motivator

by Olivier Goetgeluck
You have to realize that some day you will die. Until you realize that you are useless. — Tyler Durden, Fight Club There’s only one thing I like about the news on TV: it reminds you, every single day, that you are going to die. I believe that’s a good thing. You could die today. It could be tomorrow. In 10 years or 50 years. Whenever it is, it certainly is going to happen. It’s the one thing   —   whatever you do   —   you cannot get away from. And as Tyler Durden said in Fight Club : if you do not realize this, you are useless. Throughout my reading, film-watching and web browsing I’ve noticed that quite an amount of pretty successful people had this realizing-I’ll-be-death-soon thing pretty well covered   —   and often even used it as a motivational tool that put a bit of urgency behind their work. Here are 6 successful people who   —   in different ways   —   used death as the prime motivator for their life’s work.

by Olivier Goetgeluck
Amazing talk last night here at Movement Camp Thailand by the charismatic and always authentic, heart in the right place human, Stephen Jepson. jepsen2.jpg Ido Portal His message in short is similar to Ido Portal's: stay on the move! In his words: never leave the playground. Stephen shared an important message with us that he wants us to share with as many people as possible. He wants us to never...

11 things I learned from Ido Portal

by Olivier Goetgeluck
A more holistic, human approach to movement development Last weekend (september 2013) I went to Oslo to experience the teaching of Ido Portal in his Movement X Seminar. Ido is a peculiar guy — to say the least. I have been following the training industry for quite some years now but have never encountered a person like him, whether it’s his own array of skills as a mover or how he talks...

Diversity brings immunity: Jozef Frucek of Fighting Monkey at EA

by Olivier Goetgeluck
"Are you training to become flowers or to become trees? Create a tree practice, not a flower practice." - Jozef Frucek Go to Jozef's Fighting Monkey workshops if you feel drawn to it, it's worth it. Jozef Frucek at EA Elite Athletes Getting lots of questions on what to expect, so here are some of the subjects we worked on and discussed: A lot of partner/contact work, being aware of external...
